Anika Ramlo founded BellyUp Theatre Co. with Charlotte Browne Carter in 2024 with the mission of making the theatre-going experience more accessible, more rowdy, and more fun for an LA audience.

“Why is theatre so boring and stuffy?” Shut up, it’s not! BellyUp shows are plays paired with ACTUAL backyard house parties. We aim to return to what theatre used to be and should be — a riotous affair that breeds discussion and argument, a fun night out (not unlike seeing a concert or stand-up), and an opportunity to connect with our artistic community.

Yes, we throw a RAGING party, but our plays never sacrifice quality. Our shows are beautifully and carefully crafted by the most talented and hardworking theatre actors we know. Our casts often include graduates from prestigious drama programs from around the world. With our play/party form, we’ve been able to appeal to theatre skeptics and live performance lovers alike. We’ve put on 5 events this past season, and our main-stage play/party boasted over 100 people in attendance.
